Deadline Approaching For Golden Valley Human Services Fund

If you want to apply for a request for funds you must apply by Friday, Aug. 23.

Since the inception of the Golden Valley Human Services Fund more than $1.29 million has been given to agencies in need.

If you're a community organization looking for funding help you have until Friday, Aug. 23, to apply for the next fund allocation time. You can find the application and more information to apply on the Golden Valley city's website.

In 2013, the GVHSF allocated $42,500 to eight local human service organizations including: $2,000 to the Canvas Health/Crisis Connection, $5,000 to the Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery, $7,000 to the Northwest Suburban Dinner at Your Door program, $10,000 to PRISM, $5,000 to the Senior Community Services HOME Program, $3,500 to the Senior Community Services Outreach program, $5,000 to Tree House and $5,000 to the YMCA-New Hope Branch.

A group of appointed committee members plan and hold fundraising events to help raise money identified for the human service needs in the community as well as advises the Golden Valley City Council on how to allocate funds. There are 12 members on the GVHSF committee, seven citizens at-large and five community or business members, which currently includes: Committee Chair Connie Sandler, Vice Chair Amy Clements, Hilmer Erickson, Kathryn Frommer, Carolyn Kaehr, Elissa Heilicher, Alan Ingber, Toos Vodovoz and Peggy Watkins.
