City Water Supply Gets $40 Million Upgrade

Golden Valley gets its drinking water from the City of Minneapolis.

Golden Valley's drinking water is set to get a lot better.

The Fridley Filtration Plant—owned and operated by the City of Minneapolis—is set to get a $40 million upgrade, according to KSTP. Golden Valley and a number of metro area cities get their drinking water from the plant, in addition to Minneapolis.

The upgrade will spiff up the plant, parts of which are nearly 100 years old, with new filters designed to prevent the familiar "dead fish" smell city water acquires for a few weeks in the spring.
