Fugitive Identity Revealed in 394/100 Police Ambush

Golden Valley and Minnetonka Police Departments arrested Jeffrey Frank, of Richfield, at Interstate 394 and Highway 100 on Aug. 21.

Golden Valley Police confirmed Thursday that Jeffrey Frederick Frank, 66, of Richfield, was the man arrested in , causing officers to shut down portions of Interstate 394 and Minnesota Highway 100.

Joanne Paul, crime analyst with the , told Patch that because there was a felony warrant out for Frank's arrest, Golden Valley Police deployed five squad cars to execute the warrant, in addition to help from the Minnetonka Police Department.

The Facebook site Police Clips stated that Frank had a record of assaulting officers and fleeing in the past.

Paul added that Frank's previous criminal history made police take extra precaution.

According to Minnesota court documents, Frank was most recently arrested on charges of misdemeanour theft in October of 2011. He spent 90 days in Wright County Jail before he was sentenced to one year of probation.

But Frank's criminal history extends far beyond 2011. In 1977, Frank was charged with burglary and aggravated assault. He spent 10 years in the St. Cloud Correctional Facility and in 1987, was charged as a felon in possession of tear gas--a charge that landed him in the Hennepin County Workhouse for one year.

Frank continued to re-offend. According to court documents, he was charged with crimes including 4th-degree assault, 2nd-degree burglary, theft and aggravated robbery between 1987 and 2011.

According to the Minnesota Department of Corrections, Frank was on supervised release beginning in Jan. 31, 2011.
