A little after 1 p.m., Minnesota State Patrol Officer Jeffrey Smith was involved in an accident on Interstate 694 in Anoka County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol accident report, Smith, of Golden Valley, was sitting in the left lane on eastbound Interstate 694 when a driver in the center lane lost control of his car.

The accident was one of hundreds on Sunday as winter storm Orko dumped snow and sleet on the Twin Cities. Minnesota State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske reported that between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, state patrol officers handled 239 crashes.
