Some Golden Valley Homes Still Without Power After Storm

Firefighters responded to 30 storm-related calls, but there was 'very minimal damage.'

Several homes in Golden Valley still are without power today after a storm moved through the area Monday.

The responded to about 30 fire-related calls in connection with the storm, according to Mark Kuhnly, chief of fire and inspections.

"For the most part, there was very minimal damage to houses," Kuhnly said this afternoon. "As of about 7:30 last night, the streets were cleared of trees."

Public Works Department employees were out clearing the streets immediately after the storm passed, Kuhnly said. City employees also were monitoring Bassett Creek to make sure obstructions did not stop the water flow.

Some of the areas where residents reported damage are east of Highway 100, north of Duluth Street and Golden Valley Road, and near Regent Avenue, Noble Avenue and , Kuhnly said.

Some of the damage was a result of trees falling and hitting overhead lines and pulling them off houses, Kuhnly said.
