Retro Police Car Debuts in Golden Valley

The 1940s patrol car is an anniversary tribute.

Golden Valley residents may see a blast from the past in their rearview mirrors this summer.

The Golden Valley Police Department recently retrofitted one if its Dodge Charger squad cars to resemble a 1940s-era patrol car in honor of Golden Valley’s 125th anniversary.

The rooftop alarm bell and old-fashioned police logo-adorned doors may date back 50 or so years. But Police Commander Mike Meehan said the car is completely modernized.

The retro squad car made its debut at the Golden Valley Days Parade May 21 and will continue to be used throughout the year.
