Police Blotter: Burglar Steals in Broad Daylight

Private residence and local business fall victim to robbers.

An armed robbery at on the 5400 block of Wayzata Blvd. Friday wasn’t the only criminal offense keeping officers on their toes this past week.

Golden Valley Police say on January 31, a private residence on the 1900 block of Flag Ave. N. was burglarized between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., while the homeowner was at work. The burglar forced his way into the home and left with an undisclosed amount of property. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 31, 2011:

8:40 a.m. Police arrest a 27-year-old Minneapolis man on Louisiana Ave. S and Market St. for driving without a valid license and no proof of insurance.

9:29 a.m. Police arrest a 28-year-old St. Louis Park man on Louisiana Ave. and Market St. for driving after suspension.

10:15 a.m. Police arrest an 18-year-old Minneapolis man on Louisiana Ave. S and Market St. for driving without a valid license.

10:50 a.m. Police arrest a 54-year-old Minneapolis woman on Theodore Wirth Parkway and Glenwood Ave. for expired registration and driving after her license was suspended.

11:22 a.m. Police arrest a 32-year-old St. Paul resident for driving after a revoked license and causing property damage.

12:05 p.m. Police arrest a 49-year-old St. Louis Park man on Highway 100 and Duluth St. for expired registration, driving without insurance and driving under suspension.

6:30 p.m. Police arrest a 41-year-old Minneapolis man on Sumter Ave. S and Wayzata Blvd. for failing to stop at a stop sign, driving under suspension and without insurance.

7:30 p.m. Police respond to theft from a work van that was parked in the business district on the 800 block of Boone Ave. Police say more than $1,000 worth of tools were stolen out of the truck.  

Feb. 1, 2011:

3:12 a.m. Police respond to criminal property damage at the Laurel Hill East Condos on the 5900 block of Laurel Ave. Police say the underground garage of the building was pried open but there have been no reports of vandalism or stolen goods. The damage is valued between $501 and $1,000.

12:25 p.m. Police respond to an assault and intimidation threat on the 2300 block of Mendelssohn Ln. Police say the incident was not random and the investigation is ongoing.

1:49 p.m. Police arrest a 39-year-old Minneapolis resident on the 4900 block of Olson Memorial Highway for driving after his license had been revoked.

Feb. 2, 2011:

12:02 p.m. Police arrest a 26-year-old Minneapolis man on Medicine Lake Rd. and Louisiana Ave. N. for driving after suspension, no proof of insurance and expired registration.

February 3, 2011

1:40 a.m. Police arrest a 25-year-old Golden Valley man on Madison Ave. W and Nevada Ave N for speeding, driving after suspension and no proof of insurance.

9:49 a.m. Police arrest a 35-year-old Robbinsdale man on Golden Valley Rd. and Xenia Ave. N. for driving after suspension and failing to change his name on his license.

12:25 p.m. Police arrest a 39-year-old Golden Valley man on Duluth St. and Highway 100 for driving after suspension.

9:20 p.m. Police arrest a 20-year-old Plymouth woman on Golden Valley Rd. and Xerxes Ave. N. for following a vehicle too closely and driving after suspension.

Feb. 4, 2011

1:36 a.m. Police arrest a 36-year-old Minneapolis man on I-394 and Highway 100 for driving after a canceled license.

8:26 a.m. Police arrest the driver of a commercial vehicle initially stopped for a moving violation but found several violations of the vehicle after an inspection.

9:27 p.m. Police respond to an armed robbery at Good Day Café, located on the 5400 block of Wayzata Blvd. right after the business closed for the evening. An undetermined amount of cash was taken and police are still searching for the suspect.

February 5, 2011

12:00 a.m. Police respond to theft from a vehicle on the 200 block of Lilac Dr. N. The owner of the car says she parked her car there overnight and electronic equipment and sporting goods valued in excess of $1,000 had been taken. There was no damage to the vehicle.

11:24 a.m. Police arrest a 19-year-old Hopkins woman on Golden Valley Rd. and Quail Ave. N for possession of cocaine and marijuana. The driver was stopped on a traffic violation and was found to be possessing both substances in the vehicle. She was also driving with a revoked license.  She faces two misdemeanor charges and one felony count.
