Man Arrested for Theft at BP Gas Station

A Golden Valley man was arrested on Sept. 24 for theft at the BP gas station on Boone Avenue.

John Russell, 41, of Golden Valley, was arrested last week for theft, according to the most recent Golden Valley Police Department arrest report.

The incident occurred a little after 3:30 in the afternoon. According to Golden Valley Crime Analyst Joanne Paul, Russell left the gas station without paying for his gas.

This isn't Russell's first encounter with law enforcement. According to Minnesota Courts documents, Russell was first arrested in 2006 for speeding "faster than reasonable." He was charged with a petty misdemeanor and sentenced in November 2006.

Two years later, in 2008, Russell was arrested on fourth-degree DUI charges, according to court documents. Though he pleaded not guilty, he was charged and sentenced to 30 days at a Hennepin County's Adult Corrections Facility, in addition to a two-year probation term.
