Golden Valley Man Charged with Selling Marijuana in Minneapolis

Police say Terrance Michael Plaid had 182 grams of marijuana and a digital scale in his car when he was arrested.

A Golden Valley man has been charged with selling marijuana in an area of north Minneapolis where residents have complained of drug and prostitution activity.

Terrance Michael Plaid, 47, is charged with two felonies: fifth-degree drug sales and fifth-degree drug possession, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Minneapolis Police Officer Scott Creighton, police were working near 35th Avenue and Penn Avenue North on March 29 after residents had complained about people involved in drug sales and prostitution loitering in the area.

Police watched a man approach Plaid and talk to him briefly before Plaid walked to a car parked nearby, reached into the passenger side and then returned to the man, the complaint says. The man handed some money to Plaid, who gave the man suspected marijuana, according to Creighton’s account.

Plaid got into the driver’s seat of the car, and a different man got into the passenger side, the complaint says. When officers approached the car, they detected the odor of marijuana and found a bag containing 20 grams of marijuana in a hat in the front passenger side door compartment, according to the complaint.
