Golden Valley Firefighters Will Climb Tower for Charity

The local team has raised the most in the state the last three years.

Members of the will climb 30 floors of the Accenture Tower in downtown Minneapolis on Saturday, Feb. 25, wearing full gear as part of the Fight For Air Climb, a fundraiser for the American Lung Association in Minnesota.

The Golden Valley Fire Department team has been the top fundraiser for the event among the many firefighter teams participating, and this year they are going for their fourth straight title with a goal of $8,000. The team has a webpage for donations.

Participants in the climb include Steve Baker (team captain), Ken Bence, Gary Gustner, Gregg Prest, Isaac Prest, Lisa Robinson, Philip Shea, Ben Vogel and Steve Yingst. Ken Bence is also a member of the Leadership Board for the American Lung Association in Minnesota.

There are still openings for those who wish to form their own team, participate as individuals, or sponsor a team or individual climber. Contact Tiffany Sonnek of the American Lung Association at Tiffany.sonnek@lungmn.org or call (651) 227-8014 for more details.
