Golden Valley Firefighters Raise $13K for American Lung Association

The Golden Valley Fire Department participated in the annual Fight For Air Climb in Minneapolis for the American Lung Association.

On Feb 23, 2013, Team Golden Valley Fire and friends participated in the annual Fight For Air Climb in Minneapolis for the American Lung Association. With 785 other participants, they climbed the 30-story Accenture building in full fire gear.

This is the seventh year Team Golden Valley Fire participated, raising $13,265, a record for the department and it’s fifth year as one of the top firefighter fundraising teams.

“The Chanhassen Fire Department edged us out by around $100,” says Fire Training Specialist Steve Baker. “It’s all part of a friendly rivalry we have each your to see which department can raise the most money. The loser has to buy pie for the winner.”

Together, the Golden Valley and Chanhassen teams raised more than $27,000 for the American Lung Association.

Team Golden Valley Fire and friends included Steve Baker and son Ryan, Ken Bence, Chris Gemlo, Brent Hadoff, Gregg Prest and sons Joseph and Isaac, Lisa Robinson, Anne Saffert, Phil Shea, Ben Vogel, Steve Yingst, and Golden Valley Mayor Shep Harris.
