Association voted Wednesday to give money to the project that would be on the State Capitol Mall.
The Golden Valley Fire Relief Association voted Sept. 7 to donate $8,000 to the Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
The Minnesota Fire Service Foundation has proposed a plan to construct the memorial on the State Capital Mall in St. Paul. It will honor all firefighters who have died in the line of duty.
"The memorial will feature a floating monolith supported by a field of columns representing fallen firefighters, and it will provide a new home for the bronze firefighter memorial statue currently located near door six of the baggage claim at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport," according to a news release from the city of Golden Valley.
