Drunk Driver Arrested After Crashing into Trees

The Golden Valley resident was arrested on fourth-degree DUI charges.

On Dec. 20 at around 9:40 a.m., Golden Valley police arrested a resident for speeding and DUI charges.

According to a Golden Valley police incident report, the 58-year-old woman was driving on Rhode Island Avenue North when she veered off the road and crashed into the trees.

The woman agreed to blood test and a driver evaluation at the scene, and was arrested.

According to the Golden Valley arrest report, between Dec. 17 and Dec. 23, two other people were arrested for drunk driving.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jacalyn Sticha wrote in a Golden Valley patch blog that over 570,191 Minnesotans [10.7 %] have one or more DWIs on record. Of licensed drivers in the state, Sticha said 1 in 7 have one or more incidents on record, 1 in 17 have two or more and 1 in 30 have three or more.
