Knute Severin Gladen 76 of Golden Valley, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park.

Born at home in Hendrickson Township, on July 1, 1936, to Herman Silas Gladen and Virginia Ella Gladen (Hansen) . Knute was proceeded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two children, Kathy Kocher (Dan) and Ken Gladen (Tina), 2 grandchildren Taylor and Vaughn,  1 sister Coral Nelson (Charlie), 5 brothers Ron Gladen (Nancy), Al Gladen (Terry), David Gladen (Marla), Herb Gladen (Edna) and Richard Gladen (Sue), many cousins, nieces, nephews and their children.

Knute graduated from Laporte High School and went on to college at Bemidji State studying Engineering, then  on to complete his BEE degree  at the University of Minnesota. He later took courses in computer science and programming. He was a designer of control and instrumentation systems for a variety of mechanisms notably: a swim flume (swimming treadmill) first used in training Olympic athletes in Colorado, wind tunnels jet engine testing facilities as well as the world’s largest (at the time) floating crane.

In retirement his interests were, R-Kids, a legislative action group dedicated to non-custodial parental rights, Aphasia and stroke victims book club and his love of nature and trees.

Memorial Service

A memorial service will be held at Kozlak-Radulovich Blaine Chapel (107th Ave. NE & Hwy. 65) Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m.with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m.
