4-H, VFW Auxiliary Leader Dies at 82

Golden Valley resident Teresa Raymond left behind six children plus grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will take place at Tuesday for Golden Valley resident Teresa Raymond, according to a Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapels obituary.

Raymond died Thursday at the age of 82.

She was born Teresa Holzheu on Nov. 11, 1930, and lost her mother shortly after birth. Her father raised her on a dairy farm.

She worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. It was had the hospital where she met her husband Robert Raymond. They were married for 53 years and had six children. After raising her children, she worked at Interlachen Country Club.

Teresa Raymond went to Catholic Mass weekly. She was a member of the 4-H club for 10 years and a 4-H leader for more than 40 years. For 36 years, she was also active in the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, eventually becoming the president.

She volunteered to do bingo at nursing homes.

“Teresa loved all animals, going to bingo and spending time at Pathfinder Village with her children, grandchildren and friends,” according to the obituary.

Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by four daughters, two sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Church of St. Mary of the Lake (105 N. Forestview Lane, Plymouth). Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service and from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel (3888 West Broadway, Robbinsdale). Burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
