What's your platform?

Over the last few weeks of knocking on doors and meeting people at other events I am often asked what is my platform.  My answer is pretty straightforward and if you have met me you know that I tend to speak frankly.  Here is the answer that I share with people when I am asked this question: "First off let me say that I don't buy into the platform of the democrats or republicans.  My goal is to keep party politics out of Golden Valley but that tide may be hard to change.  As a city council member my focus would be on what is best for the residents of Golden Valley.  This means keeping Golden Valley a great place to live, work and raise a family.  To do this we need to focus on the business of the city and provide a high level of services while keeping our budget flat.  To get this done we must work together and prioritize the funded activities that the city is committed to(both capital and operational commitments).  Lastly we must protect our residents from aggressive re-development that often infringes on the property rights of existing residents. "

I hope that can help some folks know what my platform is and get a view into how I might vote as your representative on the Golden Valley City Council.
