Editor's Notebook: A Letter to Golden Valley Patch Readers

Golden Valley Patch Editor Stefanie Briggs says goodbye to the community.

Dear Golden Valley Patch readers,

Life is full of changes. Change is what marks major and minor moments in our lives, helps us learn, grow and become who we are.

Take some of the recent changes in my life. I became a mother for the first time this year, which is one of the biggest changes of all. You are suddenly in charge. You are thrust into the deepest part of responsibility there is. And you hold this tiny, bundle of joy and all of life's emotions run through you at full speed. You take him home and each day is something new. Today he smiled without it being gas. Tomorrow he holds his head up on his own. In a few months, he starts to crawl and laughs out loud at the silliest things.

When I returned from maternity leave this spring, my job changed. I became the Golden Valley Patch editor as well as the Plymouth MN Patch editor. Having grown up in the area, I was excited to get to know a community I have only been acquainted with and always enjoyed visiting.

Getting a chance to be a part of this community has been a great learning experience. So much is happening in Golden Valley, there's no shortage of stories here. Changes are a key element of a thriving and vibrant community like Golden Valley and it's been a pleasure being able to witness, report and capture even some of what's happening. And I couldn't have done it without the readers of Golden Valley Patch. You have truly made the job a great experience.

And the most recent change involves another phase for Golden Valley Patch and myself. My last day with Patch will be Tuesday, Oct. 15. And though my time with Patch is ending, Golden Valley Patch will still be here.

This is your site, your online community and now more than ever there are different ways for you to participate, inform, educate and share information with each other. And I hope that you will do so on Golden Valley Patch.

I appreciate having this opportunity to have been a part of the Golden Valley community. Thank you for all your support and hard work. Everyone I've met and worked with has been an inspiration for what they do and the great changes they've made in the community.

Sincerely,
Stefanie Briggs
