Pancake Breakfast to Raise Funds to Stem Auto Theft

Help reverse Golden Valley’s upward trend in auto thefts by enjoying a $3 pancake breakfast at Covenant Village of Golden Valley, Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Covenant Village is located at 5800 St. Croix Ave. N., Golden Valley.

Golden Valley Police Chief Stacy Carlson reports that auto theft was up 21 percent in 2012 compared to 2011. The national increase in the same period was just 1. 7 percent. To help reverse the trend, the police department wants to create a bait car — a vehicle modified with features like GPS tracking that allow police to capture car thieves. Funds raised from the Covenant Village pancake breakfast will be used to help underwrite the car’s software.

The Covenant Village breakfast will include all-you-can-eat pancakes, link sausage, juice and coffee. Cost is $3, but you can donate more.
