Lilac Project Welcomes Volunteers

Lilac Planting Volunteers Needed: September 28th

The sixth annual Lilac Planting Party on Saturday, Sept 28, brings people together to implement a vision of lilacs, shrubs, and flowers along the sides of Hwy 55 through Golden Valley. This year volunteers will restore lilac beds disturbed by recent construction/rehabilitation of the MCES sanitary sewer system along the north side of Hwy 55 between Douglas Dr and Glenwood Ave.

Volunteers will meet at the Welcome Center, 6681 Country Club Dr (Gurstel Chargo). Registration is 8:30 – 9 am and planting is from 9 am – 1 pm, followed by a celebration lunch until 2 pm. Individuals and groups are welcome. RSVP Sandy Werts, Golden Valley Volunteer Coordinator: swerts@goldenvalleymn.gov, or sign up on the day of the event, at the Welcome Center. Bring a shovel, gloves, and a rake.

This grass-roots community beautification effort is a collaboration between Bridge Builders, the City of Golden Valley, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Community Roadside Landscaping Partnership Program.
