Let's Get Romantic!

It heats the blood and arouses the heart.  It's the flowering of symphonic music in the Romantic era, and you can hear it live!


When he wrote his opera Die Freischütz Carl Maria von Weber painted a tonepicture of magic and nature.  The overture invites you into the leafy forest to see how the doomed lovers bring their affair to life.  


To convey the surreal delight of ancient dances, Gabriel Fauré composed music for a play, Masques & Bergamasques. We'll hear his Gavotte and Menuet.

Relieved and relaxed from a cruise down the Rhine, Robert Schumann wrote his last symphony, the Rhenish, to offer us a glimpse through his eyes of the beauties of the countryside and the glory of a Cologne cathedral.
