Students, Staff Evacuated from SEA After Multiple Illnesses Reported

Students were bused to Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School for the remainder of the day.

At about noon on Monday, Feb. 25, 10 students and a few staff members from the School of Engineering and Arts in Golden Valley reported feeling ill, according to Tia Clasen, spokesperson for District 281.

Robbinsdale Area Schools officials made the immediate decision to test the air quality of the building.

While testing was being conducted, at about 2 p.m., the district decided to evacuate the building, busing student and staff to nearby Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School to carry out the remainder of class.

After the district's tests for carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide came back normal, as a precautionary step, officials called the Golden Valley Fire Department and hazardous materials team.

“Their results came back clean as well,” Clasen told Patch. “At this point, we don’t know what caused the illnesses.”

The SEA Adventure Club students met at Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School today and tonight's girl scout meeting at SEA is cancelled.
