One Dead After Crash on I-394 in Golden Valley

An 89-year-old man was killed in a crash during Wednesday morning rush hour.

A blown tire caused a fatal accident on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley, according to the State Patrol.

The State Patrol says Charles Miranda, 89, of Minneapolis, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in, a 2000 Chevy Express van, blew a tire and crashed into the median.

The driver of the van was uninjured. Another passenger in the van, an 85-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries.

According to the State Patrol website, the crash happened around 9 a.m. this morning on Interstate 394 near Xenia and Park Place. All three people were wearing seat belts, according to the report. Traffic was rerouted and backed up for hours. The interstate was reopened about an hour after the crash.
