'Near Blizzard Conditions' Could Come to Parts of Minnesota

The National Weather Service amended their weather statement early Saturday morning, saying that "near blizzard conditions may develop on Sunday afternoon in portions of Western and Southern Minnesota."

A winter storm warning remains in effect, which could bring about six inches of snow to Minneapolis and Golden Valley.

According to weather forecasters, a winter storm warning means that "severe weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous."

The hazardous weather outlook, which was updated at 4:44 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, states that whiteout conditions could occur in portions of the state, but will depend on how much snow has fallen.

Get ready to bundle up toward the end of the weekend and into next week. Forecasters say that on Sunday night, wind chill values will dip to negative 25 degrees.

In Golden Valley, the National Weather Service says that three to five inches of snow will fall Saturday night and two to four inches will Sunday.
