Local Volunteers Take Part in National One-Day Food Drive

The Cub Foods in Crystal was among several sites collecting donations for today's 19th Annual Stamp Out Hunger event.

For almost two decades, the second Saturday of May has been the designated day for the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger food drive. It's a national effort to collect non-perishable and non-breakable food items for those in need.

All of this year's items will be taken to Second Harvest Heartland. Last year, more than 1.2 million pounds of food was collected from throughout the Twin Cities.

22 area Cub Foods locations served as designated drop sites this year for more than 2,000 letter carriers and for the general public as well. At the Crystal drop-off location, Two Men and a Truck donated their time and resources to load and transport donations.
