Last Chance: Summer Camps

Time is running out If you're looking for a fun summer camp for your kids before they head back to school. Here's a look at a few camps happening in August.

Art Feast

July 30th to August 3rd, 9:00a.m to Noon
Ages 7 to 12
Please don't eat the art... but celebrate food! Join us at the height of summer in the JD Rivers Children's Garden (in Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis) surrounded by bounty and get our fill of food-inspired art. This week, we'll sketch, paint, sculpt and serve up an artful banquet fit for a king or queen in a special camp-partnership between the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. If you register for Art Feast in the morning and Wirth Adventure Camp in the afternoon supervision will be provided over lunch. Campers must bring their lunch.
Register for Art Feast - $35 for Minneapolis residents. Sholarships available.

Can'n and Jam'n

Session I: Aug. 13-17, 9:00a.m. to Noon.
Session II: Aug. 20-24, 9:00a.m. to Noon.
Ages 7 to 12
Can'n and Jam'n camp celebrates the harvest at J.D. Rivers Children's Garden in Wirth Park. Youth work in the garden, harvest and also eat the fruits (and vegetables and herbs) of their labor. The camp meets from 9 a.m.-noon at the JD Rivers Children's Garden and ends at the Pavilion. Participants harvest veggies from the garden and learn about good harvest practices and the value of good food for our bodies. Children will most likely make pickles, salsa, jam, salads, garden crafts and more (weather and harvest depending!) A daily snack is included in the camp, but not lunch. If you register for Can'n and Jam'n in the morning and Wirth Adventure Camp in the afternoon supervision will be provided over lunch. Campers must bring their lunch.
Register for Can'n and Jam'n Session 1 or Session 2 - $35 for Minneapolis residents. Sholarships available.

Wirth Adventure Camp

Session I: Jul 30-August 3, 12:30-3:30.
Session II: Aug 13-17, 12:30-3:30.
Session III: Aug. 20-24, 12:30-3:30.
Ages 7 to 12
Each afternoon participants will explore the park, hike the trails, canoe on the lake, learn how to build shelters and discover the fine art of outdoor survival. They’ll start with some structured activities and transition into their choice of many activities. A snack will be provided. $35/person. Minimum 10 participants. Looking for a full day experience? This camp is offered immediately following Art Feast and Can'n and Jam'n Camps. If you register for Art Feast or Can'n and Jam'n in the morning and Wirth Adventure Camp in the afternoon supervision will be provided over lunch. Campers must bring their lunch.
Register for Wirth Adventure Camp Session 1, Session 2, or Session 3 - $35 for Minneapolis residents. Sholarships available.
