Holiday Events at Golden Valley Public Library

From Rudolph puppet shows to baby story times, there's plenty of holiday fun happening at the Golden Valley Library.

MacPhail Center for Music: Sing, Play, Learn!
When: Wednesdays, Dec. 5 & 12, 10:30–11:15 a.m.
What: Birth-preschool. Hands-on musical play activities led by early childhood music specialists will let your family experience music’s impact on learning and reading readiness. Together you will sing, rhyme, read, move and create! 
This project is funded with money from Minnesota's Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Schiffelly Puppets: No Nose for Rudolph
When: Saturday, Dec. 15, 11 a.m.
What: For families. The famous reindeer has had his nose taken by Hank the Greedy Hog. Join Slurrpy the Snowman, Santa Claus and a host of other holiday characters as they try to get back Rudolph's nose.

Paint It Green: Penguins on Parade
When: Thursday, Dec. 27, 1:30–2:30 p.m.
What: K-grade 6. Create penguin headpieces and footwear while learning about the many species of penguins and the challenges they face with the melting of icebergs. Then we’ll have a parade! Materials provided.

Poetry Lovers Converge
When: Monday, Jan. 7, 6:30p.m., Monday, Feb. 4, 6:30 p.m.
What: Everyone (kids to teens to seniors!) is invited to read an original or a favorite poem, or just come and listen. In all languages, for all ages and all authors. Bring your friends!

Family Storytime
When: Wednesdays, Jan. 9–Feb. 27, 10:30 a.m.
What: For families. For children age 2 and up. Share books, stories, rhymes, music, and movement with your children.

Author Talk: Mary Logue
When: Saturday, Jan. 26, 1 p.m. 
What: Minnesota Book Award-winner Logue (writing as Mary Lou Kirwin) will talk about her new book, "Killer Librarian," about a small town librarian on a long overdue trip to London. When her boyfriend goes missing, the librarian uses her research skills to investigate. You’ll want to get a "copyright" away! Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Laura Ingalls Wilder Birthday Party
When: Saturday, Feb. 2, 11 a.m. 
What: For families. Wilder, author of "Little House on the Prairie" was born on Feb. 7, 1867. Join us for a pioneer celebration with old-fashioned party games, crafts and more!

Baby Storytime
When: Tuesdays, Feb. 5–26, 10:15 a.m.
What: Registration required, begins Jan. 8. For children from birth to 24 months. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses with books and music. Build brain power
