Are you ready to get in the holiday spirit? Here's a listing of upcoming events that the whole family can enjoy.
It's hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us, but Christmas, Hanukkah and snowy days are right around the corner. If you're looking for some festive activites, you don't have to go far. Here's a listing of things to do in or near Golden Valley.
Mailbox to the North Pole
When: Nov. 26–Dec. 14

Where: Brookview Community Center
What: Santa Claus will have a special Direct-to-the-North Pole mailbox at Brookview Community Center, where boys and girls can drop off their letters. Santa's helpers will pick up the letters each evening and deliver them straight to the North Pole. Santa Claus requests that each letter include the full name and address of each sender so he can reply to each one.

Holiday Concert with the Robbinsdale City Band
When: Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Crystal Community Center, 4800 Douglas Drive N.
What: Enjoy a holiday band concert and sing-a-long with the Robbinsdale City Band.
Supper with Santa
When: Friday, Dec. 7, 6–7:30 p.m.
Where: Brookview Community Center
What: Spend a special Friday evening having pizza dinner with holiday music. After dinner, enjoy a fun-filled holiday show, and of course, a visit from Santa Claus! All children must be accompanied by an adult. No fee for children 2 and under. $10 Resident, $15 Non-Resident, $5/Adult Meal. Code: 11675
Star of Bethlehem
When: Saturday, Dec. 8, at 1 p.m.
Where: Golden Valley Library
What: The story of the Star of Bethlehem has inspired writers, artists and astronomers for many years. This presentation explores the night sky as it appeared at that time and suggests that the Wise Men may actually have seen something extraordinary in their nightly observations. Presenters will tie the Bible, recorded history and modern astronomy together to try to solve this age-old mystery. Register by Dec. 5 by calling 763-512-2339. Presented by Bill Arden, MS, Associate Professor, Augsburg College. Program is appropriate for ages 8 and older.
Holiday Tea
When: Monday, Dec. 10, 1 p.m.
Where: Brookview Community Center
What: Be entertained by the Ho Ho Holiday Show, a fast-paced program with lots of music, holiday comedy and Christmas message! Audiences are laughing out loud at Kevin Doely’s life like vent figures and puppets. Kevin has been entertaining audiences for many years with a blend of comedy, storytelling, music, and audience participation! Petite sandwiches and desserts will be served. Festive attire encouraged. Bring your own tea cup and saucer to add to the fun. Register by Wednesday, Dec. 5. $7 includes entertainment and refreshments. Code: 11545
