Deep Freeze Comes to Golden Valley, Hennepin County

Bundle up. Weather service forecasters say that below zero temps will blast through portions of central and southern Minnesota.

On Dec. 31 at 4:30 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for 24 Minnesota and Wisconsin counties, including Hennepin County.

Weather service forecasters say that on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, “arctic air will filter into the region.” This burst of freezing air will cause wind chill values in portions of central and southern Minnesota to drop to 25 below zero.

The hazardous outlook extends through Sunday.

For Dec. 31, Golden Valley will see a high near 7, according to the community's 7-day outlook. New Year's Day will  bring a low of 7 below zero.
