According to an article published Sunday by KARE 11, the body of Mark Stoneberg was found after almost a week-long search.
In an statement given to media Sunday, Stoneberg's wife, Nancy, said "it is with a heavy heart that we inform you that the body of Mark Stoneberg was located this morning off the coast of Mexico."
Stoneberg went missing on Tuesday, Feb. 26, during a vacation in Mexico. He was body surfing off the coast when a riptide sucked him under.
According to an article published Mar. 2 by WCCO, Nancy had recently recruited new search team members to help find her husband.
Robbinsdale residents, and those that knew Stoneberg, took to Twitter Sunday night to express their sadness.
Rest In Peace Mark Stoneberg. I'm both saddened and relieved by the news. The whole city of Robbinsdale grieves for you tonight.
RIP Mark Stoneberg. </3
