Band of Snow Moving Through Golden Valley, Hennepin County

Forecasters say that while the snow will be light, it will be enough to cover roadways.

A little after 10 a.m. on Tuesday, National Weather Service forecasters issued a short-term forecast that showed snow coming to portions of Minnesota.

According to the statement:

A BAND OF LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW OVER CENTRAL MINNESOTA IS MOVING EAST AT ABOUT 20 MPH AND WILL MOVE IN TO THE REGION OVER THE NEXT ONE TO TWO HOURS. ACCUMULATION WILL BE LIGHT...BUT WILL BE ENOUGH TO COAT ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. THE BAND OF SNOW IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE WESTERN TWIN CITIES SUBURBS AT ABOUT 11:30 AM.

On twitter, MPR Weather warned about slick roadways:

Band of light snow moving into metro from the west. Expect under 1", but enough for slick roads next 2-5 hours.

A coating of snow will help conditions at Theodore Wirth Park. According to Skinnyski.com, John Munger from City of Lakes Loppet said cross country skiing conditions were "very good."
