Fourth of July Profile: Veteran Rowley Mayo Finds Success with Mr. Appliance
Rowley Mayo is a proud veteran and franchise owner with a growing business, who served our country in the Marine Corps from 1970 to 1974. While it’s been a long time since he was in the military, but like many transitioning troops today, he knew what it’s like to face a poor economy and a harsh jobs outlook. After leaving the Marine Corps 38 years ago, he attended business school and enjoyed a long career as a corporate executive in finance and IT. Late in his career, with lots of experience and high salary requirements, he realized it would be very difficult to find another position meeting his requirements. He wasn’t ready to retire, so he decided to open a business. Rowley had spent most of his career working for someone else, and wanted to use his experience, talent, and skills to start, run, and build a business for himself.
Once connected with the Mr. Appliance brand, he felt right at home. He had no experience in repairing appliances, but had a lot of management experience, electronic experience from the Marine Corp, and from working for a company that manufactured electronic equipment.

He had no interest in becoming an appliance repair technician, but knew he could run a business. He had been doing it for 34 years for someone else. Rowley opened Mr. Appliance of W Hennepin and E Carver in December of 2010, which has presented the chance to work with his family. He hasn’t looked back!
