Covenant Village of Golden Valley appoints Kobus Director of Nursing

Covenant Village of Golden Valley appointed Karen K. Kobus, R.N., director of nursing. 

In her new position, Kobus will manage the continuing care retirement community’s nursing departments, nursing services associated with the community’s adult day programs, medical records and central supply. Her staff of 75 nurses provides 24-hour care for those in the community’s health care center, Colonial Acres Health Care Center, which has 88 beds for rehab, long-term care and secure memory support. The staff also provides consultative and emergency care for 57 residents in assisted living and memory support assisted living as well as 230 in the Covenant Village residential retirement community.

A geriatric health care professional with more than 25 years of experience, Kobus reports to Covenant Village of Golden Valley Health Care Administrator Paula Sparling.

Before joining Covenant Village, Kobus was director of nursing at Walker Methodist Health Center, Minneapolis, where she conducted several joint projects with the University of Minnesota and made innovations in hiring, staffing, admissions and training.

A resident of Coon Rapids, Minn., Kobus has an associate degree in nursing, 2003, and a bachelor’s degree in health science, 2013, from Excelsior College, Albany, N.Y. She is a member of the Minnesota Directors of Nursing Association and the Minnesota Medical Directors Association.
