Vikings Stadium Builders Cruise State to Educate

Stadium builders will make four stops on their trip around the state to share information with subcontractors and talk about work opportunities, the Pioneer Press reported.

Golden Valley-based Mortenson Construction and Minneapolis-based Thor Construction are traveling around the state, bringing news and information on the project to subcontractors.

According to the Pioneer Press, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) announced that the construction firms would kick off the four-stop tour on July 29 in Minneapolis:

"We will be traveling the state to share information about this exceptional project with all interested specialty contractors and suppliers," said John Wood, senior vice president of Mortenson Construction. "We want to ensure that we get the word out to all potential vendors and contractors that there are many opportunities to get involved."

When the project was approved, the bill called for set participation goals of 11 percent for minority-owned businesses and 9 percent for women-owned businesses, the newspaper reported.

The final event is in Mankato on Aug. 8. See the full schedule of stops here.

The new stadium is scheduled to open in time for the 2016 NFL season. The MSFA, which currently owns the Metrodome, or Mall of America Field, will own and operate the new stadium.
