Piazza's Italian Ristorante Closes in Golden Valley

The long time Golden Valley restaurant was part of the community for more than 25 years.

With simple “closed” and “out of business” signs posted in the front windows of Piazza's Italian Ristorante, the long time Golden Valley restaurant has closed without explanation.

A man answering the phone at the Piazza's Italian Ristorante Feb. 4 said “the eatery had closed, but refused to give details or his name,” the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported.

Patch was unable reach anyone at the business and the website was no longer active. A sign on the front of the business offered a phone number leasing or sale of the site, which went unanswered.

Hennepin County property tax records estimate the total market value of the building and property to be $500,000.  The business, located 8851 7th Ave. N., is near upcoming proposed redevelopment on Boone Avenue and Highway 55.

Fans of the Golden Valley eatery took to the Piazza's Italian Ristorante Facebook page to share their disappointment.

Jason Pawelsky - I'm so disappointed to hear that Piazza's closed. I've always enjoyed the meat manicotti and haven't found it anywhere else in the Twin Cities. Thanks for all the tasty memories!

Deb Shaffer - Closed??? When did that happen? Hubby and I were going to his FAVORITE place for his birthday dinner tonight! :(

Matt Koskinen - Sad day for Piazza's Italian Ristorante. I don't know what I am going to do going the rest of my life without eating your salads. Thanks for all the wonderful meals over the last 26 years.

Piazza's Italian Ristorante restaurant opened in 1985.
