After opening in December, Bark & Bathe Self Service Dog Wash and Full Service Pet Salon of nearby Robbinsdale shared the new business with the community during their grand opening week Feb. 12-17.
“We are very excited to open our first store. Bark & Bathe’s customers are free to choose the option that best fits their needs and pocket book. They can do-it-themselves or leave everything to us – and we have a groomer with 29 years of experience for those who want a more complete 'spa-like' experience for their pet," founder and co-owner Karen Moe said.
Services cost $10 - $30 per visit. Customized grooming services can be scheduled in advance for an additional cost. Treats, pet-care products, toys, and leashes from a variety of suppliers are also available.
During the week of Feb. 12-17, the store will partner with local nonprofit Secondhand Hounds of Minnetonka by serving as a host location for the organization’s dog and cat adoption program. Bark & Bathe’s first adoption event will take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17. Prospective families can learn more about Secondhand Hounds by going to www.secondhandhouds.org.
“What makes us special is our hands-on approach to pet care," co-owner George Selman said. "Even with the self-serve option, we get right in there to give our customers personalized instruction on the best way to wash, lift and dry their pet. Our goal is to help everyone stay calm and safe.”
Employees of Bark & Bathe are trained to offer guidance on bathing frequency, oral health, the identification and treatment of common skin conditions, and topics like nail clipping. In the future, the store hopes to offer educational events on pet nutrition, behavioral training, and more.
Bark & Bathe is located at 3883 Broadway Ave., N. in Robbinsdale. It is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For grand opening information, visit the Bark & Bathe Self Service Dog Wash and Full Service Pet Salon website.
