Mortenson Construction Named as Finalist for Vikings Stadium Contract

The Golden Valley-based business remains in the running to lead construction for the new Minnesota Vikings Stadium, according to the Star Tribune.

From initial interest to bidding, the new construction company to lead building the Minnesota Vikings stadium has quickly been narrowed down to two businesses – including one from Golden Valley.

Mortenson Construction, according to a Star Tribune report, along with Arizona-based Hunt Construction, have both been named as finalists to build the $975 million sports venue in Minneapolis.

"They're both really strong firms and really good proposals," Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority Chair Michele Kelm-Helgen told the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

As one of the biggest construction contractors in the Minnesota, Mortenson has a history of leading construction on projects such as Target Field and TCF Bank Stadium, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported.

An announcement was expected on Friday, but the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority decided it needed more time. A decision could come as early as next week.
