Golden Valley's Colonnade Gets LEED Gold Rating

Energy upgrades grabbed the honor, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

Golden Valley's The Colonnade building is now one of 16 buildings in Minnesota to have a gold rating from the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED).

According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, the 356,000-square-foot office building snagged the honor after owners and the building management company made a number of energy upgrades:

"To receive the LEED gold certification, the owners, New York-based DRA Advisors, along with building manager CBRE Group, replaced 10,000 light bulbs and ballasts, upgraded the energy management system to reduce utility usage, installed ultra-low flow fixtures in the restrooms, and transitioned to green materials for cleaning and construction."

The changes helped the building cut energy costs by 23 percent, the journal reported. The gold rating was in LEED's Existing Buildings: Operations & Maintenance category.
