Golden Valley Construction Firm Attends Vikings Stadium Meeting

Mortenson Construction was one of six firms showing interest in possibly building the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.

Six construction firms, including one from Golden Valley, met with the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) and the Minnesota Vikings Jan. 11 in a pre-proposal meeting about the new stadium.

Golden Valley-based Mortenson Construction was among the firms to attend.  The firm is “widely considered the favorite to land the job,” according to a Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal post

“The meeting was held to answer any questions the construction firms had about the Construction Manager RFP which was released on December 7, 2012,” according to a MSFA press release. “The pre-proposal meeting served as a question and answer session for the firms who have expressed interest in developing a proposal to be the construction manager on the Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium.”

Other Minnesota firms showing interest included Minneapolis-based Kraus-Anderson and Lakeville-based Loeffler Construction.

The construction manager for the stadium project is scheduled to be announced Feb. 1, 2013, according to the MSFA press release. Construction firms are asked to “put together a project timeline, construction schedule and provide a guaranteed maximum price for the new multi-purpose stadium.” Proposals are due Jan. 21.
