Rain Delays Hwy 169 Construction From Golden Valley to Brooklyn Park

The construction won't begin this weekend, but will start Friday, June 14 instead.

According to MnDOT:

The rainy weather has delayed this weekend’s closure of southbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 in Golden Valley/Plymouth and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove.

Weather permitting, on Friday, June 14, southbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and 77th Avenue in Brooklyn Park/Maple Grove will close for four consecutive weekends.

The lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. each Friday and continue through 5 a.m. the following Monday.

Beginning Friday, July 19, northbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and 77th Avenue will close for four consecutive weekends. The lane closures will begin at 9 p.m. each Friday and continue through 5 a.m. the following Monday.

Motorists will encounter various overnight weeknight ramp closures. All lanes and ramps will be open over the July 4th Holiday weekend.During weekend closures, motorists should use Interstates 94, 394, and 494 and Highway 100 as alternative routes.

Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction.

The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility. To sign up for the project’s e-mail updates or for more information, visit the project’s Web site at  Get real-time travel information anywhere in Minnesota
