Hennepin Library Free Exhibit Will Include Suburban Locations

Golden Valley and other area libraries will be part of 125th year celebration event starting Thursday.

A new exhibit at the Hennepin County Library - Minneapolis Central will celebrate 125 years of service to the area.

The exhibit will open with a program at 7 p.m. Thursday in Pohlad Hall at 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis. A reception will start at 7:40 p.m.

Suburban libraries, such as Golden Valley, are included in the exhibit, according to Carla Knutson Biermaier, a spokeswoman for the library system.

Over the course of more than a century, the library system has evolved from a Ford Model T "book truck" to card catalogs, vinyl records, 8-track tapes, and today's high-speed Internet, according to a news release from the library. All of these things and more will be included in the exhibit, which continues through the summer.

The Library Foundation of Hennepin County is the sponsor.
