Weekend Reminder: Southbound Hwy 169 Closed From Brooklyn Park to Golden Valley

Here's a friendly reminder of roadwork on southbound Highway 169 between Highway 55 and County Road 81 this weekend. The affected roadway stretching between Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, July 12, and reopens 5 a.m. Monday, July 15.

In addition, the 85th Avenue ramps to southbound Hwy 169 also will close.

During the closure, motorists should use Interstates 694/94, 394, and 494 and Highway 100 as alternative routes.

Weather permitting, beginning Friday, July 19, motorists will encounter a weekend road closure of northbound Hwy 169 between Hwy 55 and County Road 81. More information will be available as the date nears. 

Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
