Community Corner

Reminder: “Run the Valley” This Weekend!

Time to hit the pavement for good fun and a good cause on Saturday, Apr. 9th, 2011.

Have you felt the energetic spring buzz that seems to zap Minnesotans this time of year? It’s an indescribable surge of energy that pushes us outdoors to sweat it out and a time where the warm air and sun breathes powerful life back into our bodies. I have spotted this miraculous “buzz” all around town, as people are happily lacing up and getting their fitness on!

And how fitting that this weekend is one of Golden Valley’s biggest events that's all about the beautiful outdoors, fitness, and community togetherness!

Run the Valley is the Golden Valley Human Services Foundation’s annual 5K/10K Race and 5K Walk. It has grown to become a highly successful community fundraising event that helps a variety of local human service organizations.

Even if you aren’t planning to walk or run this year, it’s still a perfect opportunity to get out and meet people, cheer others, or just support the community in your own special way.

Last year’s event drew in nearly 600 runners and almost 100 walkers. Let’s hope this year’s turnout is even better!
