Pet of the Week: She's Affectionate and Adorable.

Amara is a 3-year-old domestic shorthair female cat.

Amara's gorgeous eyes will easily hold your attention and her genuine warmth will keep you loving her for days on end.

Amara along with her very own tiny baby kitten were brought to the shelter together. The two were placed in the home of an foster volunteer, so Amara could continue to nurse her kitten. But after several weeks, once the kitten was old enough and gained enough weight for adoption, Amara and her baby returned to the shelter. They were both spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and put up for adoption. The kitten now has a loving home, but beautiful Amara is still waiting for her turn.

She is a little shy at first, but once she is comfortable, she’ll snuggle up and let you know just how happy she is with a loud, constant purr. Her favorite thing in the world is being brushed. It’s relaxing for her and keeps her beautiful black fur silky and smooth—just the way she likes it.

Amara would do well in a home that’s a little quieter, as sometimes loud noises can be scary for her. A calm owner who wants to give her gentle petting and lots of love is exactly what this little cat needs.

Let's find Amara a wonderful home this summer.
