Metro Road Conditions Worsen, Cause Spinouts Tuesday Morning

Spinouts on northbound and southbound Highway 169 slowed traffic around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow continued to fall into the late morning hours Tuesday, Mar. 5, as Winter Storm Saturn pushed through the Twin Cities area.

While many districts canceled school, Minnesotans still ventured out onto the snow-coated roads. And for many, commutes ended in spinouts.

At about 10:30 a.m. on Highway 169, Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed that traffic was down to one lane in both directions due to spinouts near Medicine Lake Road.

On Twitter, MnDOT ‏ said that plows were out in force throughout the morning.  Lt. Eric Roeske from the Minnesota State Patrol said that from 5 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., troopers handled 122 crashes and 114 spinouts throughout the state.
