Golden Valley Welcomes Fall Equinox With Freeze Warning

Dropping temperatures and a freeze warning will force Golden Valley residents to bundle up this weekend.

Summer is officially over and the autumnal equinox occurs today, marking the start of fall, or winter for some northern Minnesotans.

According to weather.com, "just enough cold air combined to squeeze out the season's first snow in parts of northeast Minnesota and northern Wisconsin" overnight.

While snow isn't in our forecast (yet), residents will feel extra chilly this weekend due to a freeze warning. According to the National Weather Service, lows on Sunday morning will be in the 30s.

According to the warning, "a cold dome of Canadian high pressure will be building over the region tonight and Sunday." The National Weather Service reports that clear skies on Saturday night will force temperatures to drop by Sunday morning.
