Plowing will begin at midnight on Sunday.

If your car is parked on a public street, it’s time to move it.

The City of Golden Valley issued a snow emergency Sunday afternoon as winter storm Orko continued to dump snow throughout portions of Minnesota.

Plows will begin clearing streets at midnight on Sunday. No parking is allowed on any street until plowing has been completed.

This is the fourth snow emergency that the City has issued this winter. According to the City website, if two or more inches of snow fall, Golden Valley calls an emergency.

By 1 p.m. on Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation reported that driving conditions on almost all metro area roads were “difficult.” A few Golden Valley businesses decided to close early Sunday, including Good Day Cafe.

On their Facebook page, Good Day Cafe said they were closing at 2 p.m. to ensure that employees and customers stay safe.

The Golden Valley Animal Humane Society announced that their Buffalo location closed at noon and their other four locations would close at 2 p.m.

According to Weather.com, Golden Valley residents can expect a break in snow around 2 p.m., but snow will continue throughout Sunday night.
