Free Family Programs at Three Rivers Parks

Turkey Tales, raptors and getting artsy with nature are just a few of the free events at north metro Three Rivers parks for Nov. 18-24, 2012.

Free Family Fun Day: Ducks

Sunday, Nov. 18, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Brooklyn Center.

Learn who is a dabbler and who is a diver, which ducks don’t quack, and how ducks survive migration. This program is free and open to all ages.

Walk with a Naturalist

Sunday, Nov. 18, from 1-2 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony. Join a naturalist for an hour-long walk along the paved trails at Silverwood. Look for seasonal birds and other park inhabitants as we stroll along the lake, through the savannah, and into the woods. Bring binoculars if you have them. This program is free and open to all ages.

Let’s Get stARTed — Fall Series

Sunday, Nov. 18, from 1-3 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony. Try out a free art activity. During this monthly program families can drop in and try their hand at something new, check out the current show in our gallery, and explore the grounds. This program is free and open to all ages.

Raptors in the Yard

Sunday, Nov. 18, from 2-4 p.m., at Lowry Nature Center, in Carver Park Reserve, Victoria. Meet a barred owl up close and personal and learn about these amazing birds of prey. Cameras are welcome. This program is free and open to all ages.

Turkey Times Two

Friday, Nov. 23, from 1-3 p.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Brooklyn Center. What is the difference between light meat and dark? Are wild turkeys like their farm cousins? Learn about our favorite Thanksgiving bird. This program is free and open to all ages.

Turkey Tales

Saturday, Nov. 24, from 1-4 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. See turkey tails and feet, learn their calls, and why do they look so funny? Make a special turkey friend to take home. This program is free and open to all ages.
