Four-Hour Tour of Light Rail Transit For Golden Valley Residents in July

According to the city of Golden Valley

Golden Valley residents interested in getting a first-hand experience with light rail transit (LRT) can join a four-hour tour starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Golden Valley City Hall.

Organized and narrated by Hennepin County officials, the tour of the Hiawatha LRT will begin at Golden Valley City Hall. A chartered bus will take attendees to the Interchange LRT station at Target Field, where they will board a train and ride to the 50th Street Station.

There they will disembark and walk along the LRT to the VA Hospital Station, examining pre-existing and new development along the Hiawatha LRT corridor. At the VA Hospital Station attendees will re-board the train and continue the journey south to the Mall of America. A bus will be waiting at the Mall of America to bring attendees back to Golden Valley City Hall.

The tour, which will be subsidized by Metro Transit and Hennepin County, will be free to Golden Valley residents. Residents should be aware that the tour involves walking for approximately ¾ of a mile. Walking will be at a slow pace, and the sidewalks will be accessible to wheelchairs.
