Excessive Heat Coming Saturday, After Today's Thunderstorms

Lightning and thunder will give way to high temperatures in the mid-90s, according to the National Weather Service.

Golden Valley should get a brief respite from this morning's thunderstorms around midday. But thunderstorms again are in the forecast after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

The high temperature today should be about 85. That will change after storms move through the area today and Saturday morning.

By Saturday afternoon, the heat will ramp up. The high temperature is forecast at 92, but the heat index is expected to be in the low 100s, according to the NWS.

An excessive heat watch is in effect until Wednesday evening.

Highs through Thursday are expected to be in the low to mid-90s, with heat indices in the low 100s in the afternoons and early evenings.
