Be a Part of Golden Valley's Time Capsule

To celebrate the city's 125th anniversary this year, Golden Valley is inviting you to contribute a little personal history to its time capsule.

In honor of Golden Valley’s 125th anniversary this year, a group of citizens is creating a time capsule containing selected artifacts reflective of contemporary Golden Valley.  The time capsule will be opened by residents 25 years from now, in 2036.  You can contribute to this history project in a number of ways.

Golden Valley residents don't just have to contribute objects, they can contribute ideas, too.  Organizers are looking for suggestions about the design and location of  the time capsule as well as suggested general categories of materials.

And of course, organizers are looking for specific items that should be placed inside the time capsule.  You can either contribute an item you own or share an idea of what you think the city should put inside the capsule.

The deadline for submitting ideas is April 11, 2011.

The time capsule project is just one of many commemorative activities in place for Golden Valley’s 125th anniversary. A group of volunteers, coordinated by Marshall Tanick, is planning for events throughout the year. Most will have a historical theme.
